Music Maestro, please!
We are so fortunate to have this collaboration with the talented Camerata Oaxaca who, on January 23rd, treated us to a selection of music from the baroque period to a James Bond theme tune! We are also really grateful to Karen Cordero, one of the Learning Center's students, and her mom Cleotilde, who attended the concert and shared their views of the Center. "As a mother, I'm really proud of what she's achieved and I give thanks to God for having found this place" said Cleotilde. Karen said how helpful the Center has been in supporting her through difficulties with her schoolwork and how she feels it's made her a better person all round. And she was particularly keen to thank everyone who has donated to support the Center.
On February 27th, the Camerata were joined by vocalist Maria Eugenia Rojas who treated us to Oaxacan classics such as La Llorona.
The Learning Center's President, Jaasiel Quero, reminded us once again of the invaluable work the Center is doing for young people who simply can't afford the luxuries of private tuition. On average the those who attend the Center improve their school grades by 30-40%. Impressive indeed.
As ever, we are hugely grateful to those who sponsored the musicians and seats and of course all those who put the hard work in to make the events run so smoothly. Combine that with a fantastic view, the chance to meet friends and make new ones, and of course to catch up with with the Learning Center's news, and they were very special afternoons.
We're already planning a new series of concerts for 2023, including plans to collaborate with an internationally renowned violinist.
